One of the most commonly asked questions I get from business owners wanting to start video is…”What equipment do I need to get started that won’t cost a fortune?”

So today I’m going to give you a quick rundown on what you really need to get started when creating your own videos on your phone. It’s a lot less than what you think.

Absolute Minimum to Start in Video:

1.       A mobile phone that shoots video.

Cost?  Zilch – you’ve either paid for it or you’re on a plan.

My recommendation:

1.       Phone

2.       Phone Tripod

Cost? Zilch for your phone, and you can get a phone tripod from as little as $10 bucks.

And here’s a list of ‘Nice-to-have’:

1.       Phone

2.       Phone Tripod

3.       Lapel Microphone

4.       Portable LED light.

Recap...

·         Tripod $10

·         Lapel Microphone $80

·         Portable LED light $120

Total Cost?  $210

Seriously, I bet you’ve spent more on a facebook ad in a number of days.

Now, the only other cost is your time, and the courage to start. So what’s stopping you?

If you want to know where you can pick up this gear, you’ll see I’ve included a link to some equipment suggestions of affordable gear. But I recommend that you work out what’s going to suit your situation the best, and look around to make sure you find it.

NEXT WEEK...we'll look at some simple background set-ups.

Have a great week!
